Common questions

Do I need private medical insurance to access your service?

No, our service has been designed to enable patients to pay for medical treatment as and when they need it, with no need for private medical insurance.

Do I need to be referred by my GP?

No, you don’t need a GP referral. Your consultant will provide your GP with details and results of any treatment you receive.

Which hospital can I go to for consultation and treatment?

We have a large network of private hospitals for you to choose from. This means you will be able to see a consultant and receive any treatment you need at a location that is convenient for you. See our consultant directory for a full list of hospitals.

Can I choose which consultant I see?

Yes, you can choose a specialist suitable to your needs from our consultant directory.

How soon will I be able to see a consultant?

We will contact you within 48 hours of receiving your booking form and payment. We will give you details of available appointment dates and times and generally offer an appointment with a consultant within 7-10 days.  We aim to send out a letter of recommendation for any further treatment within five working days of your initial consultation.

What procedure would I require (for my symptoms)?

Your consultant will discuss with you any treatments or procedures you may need. They will be happy to answer any questions you may have during the initial consultation.

How much will I have to pay?

The cost of your consultation will depend on the type of specialist you need to see. Our consultant directory details the cost for a new consultation with your chosen specialist. Following your initial consultation we will provide you with a breakdown of costs for any recommended treatment, tailored to your individual needs so you will only pay for what you need, as you need it.

Do I pay the consultant or hospital directly?

All payments are made to UKS Medical prior to treatment. We will then pass on the payment to the consultant and hospital on your behalf. This means you always know how much you are paying and to whom, so there are no hidden costs or unexpected bills along the way.
